You're facing a difficult decision. How can you be sure you're making the right choice?
You can’t be sure you are making the right decision. You can make the best decision for the moment with the information available. In leadership there’s usually going to be some unknowns. There’s going to be some amount of decision risk. Collect all the info you can, call in any expertise for assistance, weigh some pros/cons and then decide on a path. There’s a reason we have so many classic leadership quotes about taking any decision / taking action is better than no decision / no action. Decision making is an imperfect art.

What do you do if the hiring manager asks about your weaknesses during a Medical Sales interview?
Of course answer honestly and as specific as possible without revealing something highly controversial and a potential risk to a company. But I would worry that I may have a weak hiring manager as a future boss and really consider if this person will be career positive for me or not. This type of question shows very little preparation, zero thought, no desire to discover something unique during the interview. It’s canned and everyone knows that the answer will be prepped and ready to go. It shows weakness and “going thru the motions.” I want a hiring manager that asks me interesting questions, challenges me to think on my feet, shows THEY bring something to the table for me. This question is a red flag to me as a candidate. 🚩

How can you identify your organization's blind spots in vision and strategy?
I’ve found that teams operate often on historical opinions believed to be market truths, yet these may be untested or unproven. I like to question long-held assumptions/beliefs. I seek evidence from the team for their beliefs, and focus on differentiating between what is known and what is assumed. Do we “know this to be a fact” or are we just restating institutional beliefs? Ask the question directly. This one question will open discussions to evaluate if these beliefs still hold in the current market context. I like that a team can build a culture of continuous learning and adaptability which helps in dynamic business landscapes.
